How Much do you pay per ton?

I am curious as to what everyone's feed bill is! Could you please share what you pay per ton of feed! Do you mix it or have it mixed or do you buy a name brand? What's your cost per ton?

We have a textured feed mix, very good stuff that ALOT of deer farms in pa and wv get from this feed mill. One ton last 445

Mine is $510 a ton mixed. Give or take $30 depending on time of season and if I add meds or not. Never had it tested but I'm using a friends mix and I'm almost 100% sure he tested. During him planning his feed mix, he was in contact with a nutritionist (sp?)

My batch from last week was 2 tons and came out to $394.44 per ton.

I use a big name brand commercial pellet that is adjusted to meet my desires. (Not all that much different than their commercial mix)

That is delivered bulk and as I said in a 2 ton batch. No meds in the mix.

This is down some from a few months ago.

Also I will add this is the "cash" price as I have an auto pay setup with them. On last weeks load the discount saved me $27.40

Mine is 525-575 per ton delivered in bags. ADM 17%-18% pellet, I think 50 of that is delivery. I'm also adding in rolled soybeans that are running $15-$20 per 50# bag.

Same as freedom whitetails, but I just cut back my protein last time I went to the mill since antlers are done. I am paying $477 per 2500 lbs.

SO I've got another question that might require me to start another topic, how many deer would eat a ton of feed a month? What's your feed consumption rate per month in relation to number of deer? ie: we feed x amount of feed to x amount of deer per month! We are just trying to get an idea to what our cost will be when in full swing! We are well on our way to rebuilding our farm! Thanks to all who reply!!!!

We currently have around 130 adults and about 50 fawns. We are going through about 5 1/2 tons per month. We have 54 antlered bucks. Most are 2year olds and yearlings. We have no bucks older than three on our farm right now. Our doe herd is much older with many around 10 years or older. The younger bucks don't eat as much as the 3-4 year old sway bellies. A herd that is older in average age will eat substantially more than a young herd.

My 24 adult buck, 16 adult doe, and 17 fawns (57 total) are currently eating 2500lbs every 2 weeks, sometimes it last 3 weeks if it's hot out.

I do not feed free choice. I feed only enough that their feeders are all full for 12-14 hours out of a day. I also give alfalfa hay and free surplus bread that I get that is left over from the local bread factory on a daily bases. I also get a lot of free sweet corn still on the stalk this time of year. I can take my machete and cut a pickup load everyday after the farmer picks the ears off he's selling.

matt do the deer like those sweet corn stalks. I have a bunch and a neighbor plants a lot of acres of it

thanks Ed

They will eat all the leaves and ears, then chew on the stalks. But if you feed them daily, they get spoiled and go for the ears and leaves and pretty much ignore the stalk. Usually each stalk grows 2-3 ears, the farmer picks the best ear for selling, so my deer still get at least one per stalk. Then by fall he chops it for silage. My deer will eat the silage, but they don't care for it that much.

we pay $450 per ton but i can't say i'm very impressed with it. May i ask what everyone's mix is? email me in private in you don't want to post it public here. Hell we're all friends here guys :D what's your mix? i got too many darn fines with the mix i inherited

Our mix..and i hate it.WAY TOO MANY FINES. We are now using shelled corn to cut down on fines and a bit more molasses but i'd still like to get rid of some of the other fines. I just don't think this has the nutrition they need.

I keep it at 18% protein yr yr but i did up the fat to 4% i THINK. I inherited this and welcome any and all feed back
