We're bottlefeeding a fawn that is we guess around a week old, this one's an orphan. We're feeding him 4.5Oz, yet, he seems to still be hungry. Someone said that you shoudl feed 10% of the body weight, he weights 6lbs, that would be 9.6Oz though, seems a bit, much... I wanna clear that with you guys. Is that much ok to give?

All depends what you are feeding him and how many times a day??? I have some 5 week old's that are on that much so i would say that 9oz might be a bit much! unless you use straight red cap and then i guess they say stick it to him???????

We're using 1/2 Concentrated goats milk, 1/2 water. It's worked so far but if his appetite is increasing, we're gona look into replacers like redcap cause goatsmilk is expensive. Where can If ind redcap, or other cheaper replacers? Goatsmilk in my area is about $3-4 for a small can, that's a bout, I dunno, maybe 10, 12 oz.

As for how often, it's usually ever four hours or so.

I think you are ok on that amount if your feeding every four hours. if you do want to give more go slow not big jumps in amounts or you will give them the runs.

Just a word of warning,if your going to switch to a different milk product do it gradually. A rapid increase in the amount of what you are feeding or abruptly changing their diet is a sure way to scours. Rick
