I have 3 fawns right now that are having problem. all are buck fawns and on the mom and not able to catch to medicate.

They are 4 & 7 & 8 weeks old. From doing some research on here, i dont think they have "lumpy jaw"

2 have small bumps/bulges on the sides of there face and one has about a golf ball size bump just below her eye located closer to his snoot then his jaw.

Not even sure what to give them but was thinking it would be good to give them some sort of antibiotics

was thinking they are to small to dart?

can you put anything in the water or feed ?

give em 1/2 cc Draxxin just under the skin between the shoulder blades.

I hate darting small fawns, catch em at night if ya can.

I also hate darting fawns but have run into the same problem that you have recently. They are just uncatchable. If you do not them try to be close and keep the pressure below 3 pounds below 2.5 is better. The Draxxin would be my go to but if its an abscess you might try 1cc of Excede. I am gonna be straight up about this darting fawns is no fun i have had to do around 7-8 and the second to last one i did it broke his leg. ( from the charge in the dart) i have been watching him and he is recovering pretty good but still sucked. Nothing like fixing one problem and creating another. As far as age goes I wouldn't dart the 4 week old, its really on size but the older two should be okay. So all I can say is be careful. Best of luck

I have darted fawns that are 6-8 weeks old for treatment. I never want to, but sometimes it's the only way. I have never had a single issue, thanks to the adjustable air pressure on the x caliber projector I have. You can back the pressure down, or take it up in a moments notice. I dart a ton of deer in a years time, for myself and for other farms and It has drastically cut down on my darting accidents and that alone is worth the price.

I have caught fawns with a big bass net too. But I would say it is quite a workout, lol. It's lots of running around.

Tom, I agree about using draxxin as treatment, no more than 1/2 cc per fawn. Draxxin is around $275 for a 50 cc bottle, so what I do is ask my vet supply office to draw up 10cc and put it in a sterile bottle and they sell me it that way, saves me a lot of money, plus the smaller amount actually gets used before the expiration date, because the other times I bought full bottles it would sit in my box and eventually expire before I used it all

Just my 2 cents but 1/2 cc blow dart would be perfect right at last light we had a super flighty fawn and I got a blow dart gun from Henry Martin with practice they're super accurate. Might be a future investment and not hurt the smaller fawns if you have to dart them!
