I got my first doe and I never noticed any signs of coming into heat that are typical with other animals. What are the signs of heat in deer?

I think you'll know. She'll either pay special attention to your buck or at least be more tolerant of his chasing efforts. Personally, I've only ever seen my deer breed once in 7 years, as many as 22 does in a year's breeding...but only ever came up with a couple of open does. I'm sure you don't have anything to worry about.
Generally you will know by the buck being right on her trail. They will come into a false heat sometimes as well. I know we have had that a few times and when they had the fawns and DNA told is us it must have been a false heat.

The buck will pay Noticeably more attention to your doe. I watched my buck actually mount a doe three times in about a 2 and a half hour span, it is odd though, most of the time you wont notice any breeding activity then spring comes and you have babies on the ground.
I don't have a buck LOL But I figured it would be like goats or other similar critters where they pace around with tail sticking straight out and nervous excited when they can't find a mate. The only reason I ask is I have heard about wild bucks hanging around when they go in heat and I never saw any not even any tracks around the outside of my pen. I kind of got her late and I'm worried she got bred before I transported her. I don't want any little ones.

lol Thanks Guys Looks like he pulled his posts out of this thread. I didn't mean to run anyone off, or step on toes I just have a hard time reading some people especially when typing. Capitolization and punctuation make a world of difference. It's the difference between
