Insecticides for midge flies?

What insecticide do you spray to control midge flies? Someone said permethrin is good, but suggested altering to wisdom or malathon occasionally to keep from building a resistance.

And I would like to find a larvaecide safe for fish that I can use to help control midge flies. Any ideas?

depending on the application method- thermal fogger or actual liquid delivery.

permethrine is effective- the best way to use it and avoid "resistance" is to use a brand that contains emulsifiers and PBO. Permethrine is a residual insecticide meaning that it last. reports of resistance come from in frequent spraying - this allows bugs to come into contact with non lethal doses.
