We are going to bottle feed this year and have some Questions. Havent decided on a brand yet. So what does everybody use? and how much of that product do you go through from start to finish per fawn? and whats your feeding schedule? We realise that it might vary from fawn to fawn. there are not too many places to get stuff around here. So you see, we need to order all that will be needed at one time. Thanx

We started out using Superior Milk replacer last fawning season & had some scour issues. We switched in the middle to Fox Valley & had no issues what so ever. We had 4 fawns last year & was very pleased with the size the fawns have turned out. Needless to say we will be using Fox Valley again this year.

We Have fed Fox Valley for 3 years now with no issues! It has worked well for us 12 doe fawns of our own. We feed 3:1 to start with and follow the scheduel on the bucket and have found it takes about 2 buckets for us per fawn. We use only pritchered nipples and throw away and use new every 30 days however we keep a few "worn ones" around to start a few hard heads out on.Target Pro Biotics and a few drops Nutra Glo in every bottle. Not telling you what will work for you only what works for us! Best of luck to you. We are ready for spring around here :( -13 and 8" of snow and they say won't get better for awhile!

what size buckets do you use?

The 5 gallon bucket of powder in a plastic bag inside the bucket our cost was $ 92.00 per bucket. hope that helps.

I too will be using red cap whole milk right from Kroger or wherever it is on sale. Not trying to raise the debate but I feel comfortable feeding whole again as I had good success and no loss last year. Benefits of red cap are no mixing powders and readily available in a pinch.

Everyone is different with different suggestion. Do what works for you.

I have a question, this will be my first year bottle feeding and I would like to use red cap milk but do you guys mix any thing with the milk like another milk replacer or do you use straight red cap milk?

I noticed some of you use Fox Valley because you say it makes the fawns bigger, but does it make a difference after a year, are the does or bucks (if you bottle feed them)bigger then the rest of the herd. I have noticed some of my deer are smaller for the first year but by the second year they are the same size as everybody else
