I was looking at worming info in the library section of this website and I read where a vet said that ivermectin injectable type is just as effective given orally. Has anyone done this, and if so was it safe and effective ??

I'm not so sure Ivermectin injectable doesn't work better orally then injected in my experience. We use it all the time this way. Best of luck

I had to read that double negative about six time till I think I figured out what you were saying! LOL!

Thanks for the helpful replies ! The deer ate it right up in thier feed and didn't balk at all:)

how do you control how much each individual deer ended up eating? just a thought...

I will use the Cydectin, as per the deer DVM's suggestion.

hello??? can anyone help with this question? Its 1cc for every 15lbs on goats...is that what you guys are doing?

If you are giving it orally I can't help you because we always inject it. But if you are going to inject it I give 6cc adult sub q and 3cc to weened fawns.

I hope this helps.................Best of luck

I am mixing it in my feed now, I am mixing 1.5 ml per head each day for 3 or 4 day's. The bottle I have say's 1ml per 110lb for cattle and 1ml per 75lb for swine. Not sure this is the right way, just what I am doing.

Kentuckynet - I would have answered you but I wasn't home to see if what I use is 1%...never checked to see...just read the dose on the bottle...increased it some...and give it. I don't increase near as much as some cause I think the drug manufacturers got you using a large dose already...for the reason that they want it to work for you, and the more you use, the quicker you will buy more.

And yes...by all means you can use it orally. I've always dosed the same orally as I did sub que.

Call me if you want kentuckynet.

Sorry for the delay but yes... 2 cc per 25 lbs by mouth with goat drench cydectin, not the pour-on though(by mouth).. The pour-on is oil based and recent studies have concluded that the pour-on is not absorbed in the gi tract... Good Luck and God bless
