I was wondering if anyone has ever used Iodine to treat a joint infection in a deer. I have a young doe that got an infection in the joint right above the hoof. We had the vet treat it once and then we have lanced it 2 other times and have been using penicillin to flush it out. We have been treating her with antibiotics but the swelling has not gone down. She is putting very minimal weight on it and has a little limp. I spoke with the vet the other day and she said that joint infections are really hard to clear up in deer and recommended using Iodine to take care of it. She said it will cause a lasting effects of the joint becoming stiff but will definitely clear up the infection. I am just curious if anyone has ever did this and how long the joint stayed swelled afterwards? Thanks,
Kevin
