Killing grass in pens

Last year we planted to much grass and it shut out the clover and other good stuff from growing. It was just a pasture grass, but it came up very thick. So, I thought about spraying the grass when it comes up. But I don't know if it will harm the deer if they eat it. Especially, the bred does!

Has anyone ever had this issue before? What should I spray with?

Thanks for the help in advance.

grass if you keep it moved is about 22+ protein and will give all the nutrients and minerals your soil has , my deer choose fresh grass over young alfalfa. and once your deer got familiar with a lawn mower nothing will scare them.

CurtisLloyd is right it gives them a lot of what they need. We cut the grass every 2 weeks in the pens.

That is true..., I mowed it every couple weeks and the deer got really used to it. I don't think I have any other choice but to just cut the grass. I don't want some disaster to happen if I spray.

Thanks Guys!
