Hello Everyone:

I am trying to decide on a breeding program this year and was wondering what the most recent trends are as far as desired genetics. I see alot about the Max line but was wondering if there are any other lines that are making news? I need this info before I purchase any semen for my AI.

Here is a great thread for you to research that talks about the best producers. As far as the latest trends you should follow the sales auctions to see what's selling, as well as Whitetail Exchange. Of course this forum has lots of discussions about hot bloodlines.

I would choose Bw Sunny, Sundance blood or flees blood. Just already a proven mix! Really the sky is the limit and that's what makes it interesting!

Just remember TRENDS come and go................True production out of a buck and his daughters will serve you better in the long run! Just my 2 cents

I have to agree with Wayne except for where he talks about a buck and his daughters. It goes both ways and I am sure Wayne will agree. A great DOE and her sons and daughters are a super way to build a line as well

Very true Roger........VERY true!

I think line prodution is OFTEN over looked in the chase for what's HOT! And causes some to stray from thier programs!

Thank you for all your responses. I have been farming for 2 years now and I am watching my first group of yearlings grow. Two of my doe have produced three very nice sons, which represent the highest scoring and best looking of all my yearlings. I really want to take advantage of these mothers and match them with the best genetics out there. Both doe are BJ grandaughters that were bred to Sundance grandsons. The combination really worked out well. I don't know how these three would rate amongst others in the industry but they look very strong for yearlings. Thanks again.
