Got a doe that will be having fawns within 2 weeks that has a limp on front leg. She is just barley putting end of toe on ground. She just started this today. Should I be looking to do anything with her or give her a few days ??

No, we have had a lot of rain lately but my pens are well drained and have good grass on them

Are your pens pretty wet?

What would wet pens have to do with it, what are your thoughts? I have a doe doing the same thing and her pen has been somewhat wet. She did the same thing last year just before fawning.

I just know with my cattle if the pens r really wet in the spring some always end up getting hoof rot

Wet ground causes foot rot easily and is terrible hard to get rid off. It's contagious too and will spread. I've seen it in sales barns at sheep/goat sales plenty of times. It's so painful that the animals walk on their knees and are always very skinny because they don't get to forage and eat enough. Long term treatment, and often recurring. The germs stay on the premises for a long time. So prevention is the key, really. For sheep/cattle etc. there is a vaccine these days, I believe.

I would give it a week, have had both does and bucks limp and then as quickly as it started it stops. I also keep gravel around waters, even when pens are wet they visit a area daily that has a hard surface.
