It is the

VETERAN,

not the preacher,

who has given us freedom of religion.

It is

the VETERAN,

not the reporter,

who has given us freedom of the press.

It is

the VETERAN,

not the poet,

who has given us freedom of speech.

It is

the VETERAN,

not the campus organizer,

who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is

the VETERAN,

not the lawyer,

who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is

the VETERAN,

not the politician,

Who has given us the right to vote.

Very nice, Thank you for posting those Issac, bless all those who served and are still serving, on this special weekend

Thank you Isaac, Maybe you could send it to the president...seems he's forgotten.

My neighbor is serving his second tour in Afganastan. I jump at the chance to do anything to help out his wife that is holding down the fort on her own. Hats off to the sacrifices made by our veterans living and of the past. Thanks for making this country free.

The price of freedom has always cost the same... the blood of young men and the hearts of their families

I will list my Family Vets And thank them.

My Father Tommy G. Harmon - Vietnam.

Father-in-Law Fran Lentz - 196th Disabled Vietnam vet. Lost a leg and left butt check plus has so much shrapnel in him he sets off the metal detector when going in the local court house. Hardest working man I have ever met.

My cousin and Full deer farming partner Jestin (Pokey) Squires. - Iraq Poke received a Purple Heart when his Humvee was hit by a road side bomb. He was lucky and only has shrapnel, and very little hearing out of his left ear.

These three men are my Heroes, and I Thank God for them every day.

There are 131 National cemeteries in the U.S. and a few in U.S. territories of Guam and Puerto Rico. There are 90 State cemeteries (no Fed. grants) in the U.S. Missouri has 5 State cemeteries, 2 more than any other State and 4 more than many. Only 39 states have such cemeteries. There are 14 Military cemeteries on foreign soils with 124, 909 AMERICAN HEROES who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. One WWII Medal of Honor winner from Oklahoma was a conscieintious observer..a medic. He never fired a shot but under blistering enemy fire saved nearly 40 fellow Marines and a few wounded Japs (until a fellow Marine held a pistol to his head and told him to not save another enemy). This medic was wounded twice and had to be carried off the battlefield himself. Not just the Medal of Honor recipients will we remember. I pray that not one who fell in battle, not one who was valiant in duty, and not one who risked their lives will ever be forgotten.

My father (US Army) served in WW2 shot twice on two different occasions.

My nephew Damian (US Army) currently serving in Afghanastan with 2 tours in Iraq all ready complete.

My nephew Drew (US Marines) served 2 tours in Iraq.Served on the intial invasion force.

Uncles -Sam,Howd,Bill,Buck,Bus,Bunk,Homer,George,Jim, (US Army) most served in WW2 some served in Korea and some served in both.

I am proud everyday of each one of them for serving, they all carry scars of war but did it to give us the freedoms we enjoy.

God bless all who have served and are still serving, I salute you all, also please remember our fallen brothers and sisters in the fire and police service this memorial day.
