About three hours ago we lost the second of two fawns that apparently died of the same thing...which we're trying to figure out. Both were fine in the morning and afternoon, but by evening, they were just laying on the ground and wouldn't get up. We took the temperature of the first one and the thermometer read 93%. (We didn't take the temp of the second one.) They weren't bloated and were eating well -- nightly bottle, Fawn Max by Max Rax and alfalpha hay. They died within a matter of hours from the afternoon...until we saw them again in the early evening. We're hoping some of you can help us shed some light on this. We had eight fawns -- two does, six bucks...and are concerned that the other six may come down with this. Have any of you had anything like this happen? Any help is appreciated.

Had one die yesterday, was fine in the late afternoon found him 830am next day. Vet did his thing may have answer soon. He had all vac.(ehd ECT.,,,) 3 months and had buttons the size of a big accorn.

We had a buck fawn do the same thing last week. Fine one minute and dead the next hour. I think the weather is affecting them.

Has it been warm and damp there in OH? I'd look at coccidia...take a fecal sample to the vet. I lost two right before weaning back in 2006 with little signs prior to their death and both had coccidia. Hope this helps.

We lost a buck same way. Fine in evening, dead in morning. Necropsy was clostridium, which he was vaccinated for, but vet said it was a strain not covered by vaccine. Hope you find answers and that the rest are ok.
