We have a 4 year old buck who is now having extreme hair loss. It started with just a little bit of hair loss and we used pour on ivermectin to treat for mites, in case that was the problem. Please see pics taken of him today  20511:locoha20512:locohai20513:locohair. and offer some guidance.

looks like mange if it is poor used motor oil on it or rub it in it will kill it old trick my mom tought me good luck poor critter T&S

I second the used motor oil. I have done it with a couple coon hounds and beagles.

Or dart him and put permethrin on his back. That's definately mange. Some of our farm dogs caught it from a fox that was hanging around. The one dog killed the fox, then three weeks later he was loosing hair by the clumps. We treated with a flee bath, then kept permethrin on the dogs back. Hair loss eventually stopped and the hair started growing back. My guess is your buck came in contact with a coon or fox that had mange. Permethrin is at tractor supply, not too expensive. It will work. Good luck, start treating asap.
