Lumpy Jaw?

I have been rehabbing deer for 8 years and I am permitted through a wildlife sanctuary in Texas.  This is the first time we ever experience the swollen jaw (lumpy jaw) problem and had no clue what it was until you all helped answer questions when you saw photos on another thread.  The fawns are doing good so I thank you all very much.   Nuflor worked great and fast.

So my question is when do you seem to see lumpy jaw pop up?  Is it something you see during a really wet season?

I think that any kind of bacterial infection issues are more prone to show up in extended wet conditions...but they can, and do, show up under any kind of condition. Some years, soils, are worse than others.

The key to these infections is early detection and treatment. Check the fawns lower front teeth daily for a milky looking buildup, and any swelling pop up on the face.

Well we are thinking the 43 feet flood waters we got back in May is the culprit because we are now getting calls from Locals seeing adult wild deer with swollen jaws.  Thanks dtala for the response.
