I have spent the last two weeks reviewing all the pictures and information I could find on breeder bucks for the AI season. Not just the quality bucks coming out of the maxbo line but the quantity of quality deer is amazing. I must take my hat off to cougar ridge. Their bucks are impressive.

I called David to read this post to him and he was very touched by your comments. Thank you for that.

As long as I have known David, he has tried his hardest to breed for big frames. You don't know how many times I have had to listen to, 'a buck has to have 30"+ beams, at least a 6 x 6 frame, has to be x amount of inches inside or more and x amount of inches of tine length'. He has tried hard to breed away from too much junk. He hunts here too so he KNOWS what the hunters want and they flip out over big open frames. They have really steered away from bucks that are too trashed out. In fact, he had a hunter just harvest a 242+ that went 220+ typical last weekend. Never seen a man so darn excited at a buck he harvested in my life! That was neat.

You know, there was a gentleman who tracked David down when we were in TX to tell him he is Maxbo's biggest fan. Over the past number of years he has kept a portfolio of all of the Maxbo sons that have been used for breeders and to date he has well over 125+ on his list. Heck, that was shocking I didn't even realize that. Even more, I guess there are a lot of Maxbo sons that are producing breeders now too.

Anyhow, there are so many beautiful bucks out there now and ones who are producing well. Thanks for taking the time to point out Maxbo. He is 9 now and it is sad to think he won't be around forever!

Thanks again, Brett.
