Sorry for all the questions. This is a great place for information and thank goodness its here and available. What kind of medications and equipment should i allways have on hand for most situations that could arise in the fawns as well as the adult deer? Thanks for any replies.

This list could go on and on....the most important thing to me it to know how, when, and why we use what we use. If you call the vet with a problem, they will say to give X at X amount SubQ or IM. Here is a short list I would have on hand, but do not use unless directed by a vet or you know how, when, and why to give them.

Banamine

Nuflor

Baytril

Draxxin

Dexamethasone

Mu-se

Bo-se

Some sort of tetracycline (tetradure 300 or LA 200 I use)

Wormer

Vitiam B complex

B-12

Think about the number of syringes and needles you think you need, then go x10 and head to the store. you need 1cc, 3cc, 6cc and 20cc as well as 22ga, 20ga, 18ga, and even 16ga needles for some of the thicker meds.....

Also, I would have aerosol antibiotic spray and aerosol liquid bandage. Don’t forget about Betadine and plenty of stuff to clean up wounds if need be.

I am sure I forgot plenty on this list. I'd have to look at my med and capture kit but this is a good start.

AND THE NUMBER ONE THING I SEE PEOPLE IN THE FIELD WITHOUT.....A THERMOMETER ! TEMPATURE IS A VERY IMPORTANT THING TO WATCH...

wow . im just getting started how much do you think this ( start up ) kit will cost and where do i get the goods ????

Tetradure

Nuflor

Sulmet

Lactated Ringers For Sub Q Fluids

a suture kit

Tissue Adhesive

~Fawn Kit~

order a month ahead of time

vaccinations

Lactated Ringers For Sub Q Fluids

sublingual b12

micro B-12 12x oral gel

You could add some C&D antitoxin, Survive D, and Fawn Paste to the fawn kit list. Allen

The one's in red are what I feel is the most important. If you do nothing at all, You should do them!!

I give

3cc Bar Guard 99 oral asap Let them drink some colostrum then within 6 hours is best http://www.pbsanimalhealth.com/details/Bar-Guard-99/20-23.html

DO NOT CONFUSE WITH BAR VAC C&D

1/2cc Bo-Se Sub Q

3cc C&D Antitoxin Sub Q Re vaccinate with same in 14 days

2 1/2 cc Poly Serum Sub Q

2 weeks old

1/4 CC Fusogard Sub Q Re vaccinate at 4 weeks

12 weeks

5 cc Triangle 9

2cc Covexin 8

2 cc Fusogard

16 weeks

5 cc triangle 9

2 cc Covexin 8

I was going to add EHD, but it was new to the people around here and I wanted to see if it was needed...Maybe not the smartest thing to do, but I always wonder when to stop...Do I need West Nile ect...the list goes on...deer being deer you can only do so much to protect them ...without the danger of killing or hurting them each time.

Hope that helps???

This was from an old post, if you type vaccinations in the search bar you can bring up other people plans on their farms.

Best of Luck!!
