Was wanting input on what each of you do or have done during the time when you are handling deer during the AI period/Cidr placement/ removal times.
Certain vitamins, wormers, antibiotics etc...that should be given as well as those that shouldnt be given during this time. Ex Ive had people tell me not to use LA 200 because it will prevent egg production. I dont know if this is factual or not im just using as an example. Thanks in advance and good luck to all the farmers out there this fall.

I use Vit A D &E and Bo-SE at CIDR implant. We use BO-SE because we are selenium deficient in my area. We will also worm with Valbazen at CIDR implant and we also worm at the same time with Ivermic SQ I use Valbazen because I have a tape worm issue. We leave our CIDRS in for a full fourteen days. We then give PMSG at CIDR removal 200 IU IM. We then will AI at 58 to 62 hours.
We will give Penicillin if when we remove the CIDR there is a foul smell and puss discharge.
I do believe LA 200 which is tetracycline will cause abortions in the first 45 day of fetus development so my opinion is why use it at that time. But Valbazen will also cause abortion in the first 45 days so if you don't have tape worms don't use it at CIDR removal just give Ivermic. I also give straight Vit E because it helps stop capture shock when we sedate our deer plus it is good for embryo development so give at CIDR implant and again at CIDR removal.
