Whats the news on the borders? Can we transport deer in and out yet?

If they are open, what criteria do you have to have? TB, CWD....etc.

Dee, you are obviously not a member of UDFoM because we rolled that all out last month in our new magizine. But need to be Tb and CWD Accred is first standard going either way. Going out must meet standards of state going into. Coming in, in addition to the above, be in good standing with DNR and MDA, animals in other state must meet standards above, application process thru MDA, approval to begin after a state audit and conversation with state agencies, health papers, permit of approval to move. 4-6 weeks to complete. This is the short explaination.

Sorry....just became a member this month. Even if you did want to jump through all the loopholes.....how safe is it??? I can't imagine the deer holding up very well on a long trip....major stress!! Do a lot of you do this or just stick with straws and buy deer in state??? Thanks for replying anyways.

Dee, you can call me and I will take you through the process. I have moved animals this fall under the new process. Alex

Folks move deer across the country all the time. If you have the right trailer and drive straight through with them they travel very well.

Deer Dee , Moving deer from Mich.to PA. nothing to it ,we have moved quite a few. As long as you meet your states requirerments the trip is not an issue so long as you have a good trailer with good ventilation, and it's not extremly warm.

The way I understand it is you need to be 5 years CWD, TB Accredited and have been in business for 3 years. Then you are eligible to import up to 10 deer in a 5 year period. There is some red tape as to what you can do with them once they are on your farm. This is huge as our borders were completely closed for 8 years.
