Does anyone use the chips in other parts of the body other than the ear? I have Rfid buttons in one ear and a chip at the base of the other and the reader keeps pickin up the button tag!

Mike, We had one that was put in by the ear and we found it when we sold her ........Down by her tail!!.....Vet said he had been told they can move but first he had ever seen! LOL

Do you ever have a problem reading them there? Do you have and use the Avid reader? Thanks!

We don't have a reader, but haven't had a problem with them being read there. I've been told they stay put better at the tail head, but I can't say that for certain.

Do you put them right on the tail in the fat or do you just slide them under the skin on the side?

Mike,

Patiently waiting for Ohio to allow micro chipping (don't think anytime soon) instead of the RFID tag.

I have heard that the chips are installed with the tail pointing upward, insert the chip upward white side so that when the tail is down less chance it coming out.

Best Regards,

Mike, we put them down near the base of the tail in the fatty part on the underside of the tail, call me if you dont understand, I am sure I am not speaking correctly on it, LOL

Like Henry said, underneath and sort of to the side. If you picture a deer skinned out, I try to go for that pocket of fat around the tail head (more than just under the skin). I lift the tail up an go up in the "pocket" beside the tail head from underneath.

Got ya's..I think. lol..So from underneath the chip would be heading down the tail...If it slid out of the pocket. It could not go say down a leg or towards the chest!
