As everyone knows I feed red cap...

But I mixed Key Calf II in with it for a short time because it is medicated with BAOVATEC and Tri-Lution...It has naturally occurring Microorganisms and is formulated with all Organic Trace Minerals....So I think that means it's supposed to be good;):D...

Mine seem to be doing great...

Manna Suckle, medicated.love it better than Zoologic.38 dollars 40 pounds, and mix little Redcap.so far Great!! Dc

Roberet that is a thought alot wandering, But we all know it fight for sure,:eek:I think bout same Dc

Hope everyone is having fun bottle feeding still. Mine haven't had a bottle for two weeks now. O'well have more time to do other things now.

I just visited a farm today and saw some Red Cap yearlings that about freaked me out....they were all huge bodies and antlers.........just like a lot of us said before...use what works best for you and your fawns.......I use the Red cap as most all of you know and it was nice to see how big and healthy these yearlings were.......I'm not saying anything bad about anyone elses program just stating what i saw today...beautiful yearlings!!

On a more serious note, I am more interested in what it is costing everyone else to bottle raise their fawns for start to finish. My total cost this year was $440 for replacer. Fed 10 fawns from start to finish, so my cost per fawn was $44 per fawn for replacer.:) What is everyone elses cost?

Dont know, but 10 bags of medicated manna suckle would be 380.I got a fawn to raise, so far she looks great, add red cap sometimes, it makes no diffrence no scours ever, she eating 27 oz 3 times day. as of yesterday 2 bottles wasnt enough, was holding her back, 6 day shy 2 months old. great condition. got half bag left used couple gallons redcap, healthy looking. Pic is couple weeks old she bigger now.I have to push her away or cover her eyes to go away,or she will lick you to death, when i cover her eyes she gets mad and bucking and jumping backwards, real funny.8 oz cup makes 2 quarts, how Much will 8 oz replacer make of your milk , Might use less.Dc Ps i done tired now get to start again on late fawns, gonna be long summer!!!

I think we must have mixed heavy or something.... We fed zoologic and it

took 4 boxes of powder to feed only seven fawns.. Approx $676.00 or

$96.00 per fawn.... Ouch!...

I think that bout right for Zoologic, it pretty expensive, i WAS a loyal fan till i decided to try cheaper, and i like much better, mixes good it settles little, just shake. I Am suprised with the redcap. how it is rating so far,i also tried some that mixed, went great, but went cheaper again, redcap treat now,:D

I just started feeding mine a week ago, mine were so late. I am using sav-a-kid goat milk replacer for the first time, it was only like $45.00 for 25lbs. I'll see how it goes, its working ok so far. Ive got a long ways to go yet though, LOL.

Antlershed, I used sav-a-kid two years ago on one fawn that was born late. It worked great. It also works good with a little Red Cap:D. I don't think you will have a problem with the milk. My thoughts only. Allen

Triple R,

I also use Zoologic but fed 3x's a day and no more than 9-10 oz's per feeding. I wean them at 60 days.

Gaylen C

You have been happy with the results of the deer on your schedule. I would love to have all of mine weaned at 60 days. If you would not mind. Would you send me your feeding schedule and the concentration of the mix. I'm feeding Superior right now and have been very happy, but I'm currently weaning at 12 weeks.

Gaylen...Do you mind if I ask what do they weigh when you wean them...and their weight now?

Wow... I feed each 40 to 60 oz a day still... I know I could have cut them way down...but they eat a lot of pellets and alfalfa. I feel the milk is helping them get bigger faster...They are the largest fawns I have ever had at weaning time, but wondering if they would be larger cutting back.

Honestly, I have no idea what they weigh. I have never weighed them. They are average size for bottle feds though. I will try to get some pictures posted this weekend for ya. I'm not going for the biggest, heaviest fawns ever. For me it is the more efficient and economical. It is my opinion that the quicker you can get animals on feed and away from milk the less problems you will encounter.

By cutting them back they will increase their intake of feed, grass, hay and water.

When weaning there is a certain amount of shrinkage that takes place until their body adjusts to their diet not being supplemented with milk. So usually they will appear thinner for a week or two. As long as they know where the feed and the water is at. They will be fine.

Gaylen i like your thinking, im goin from 3 to twice, she knows where the food is, started yesterday, by mid week once! she slick and healthy, i need break for late fawns arrive, look like end aug,or sept:eek: Redcap cruising right along.simply amazing!
