Well I’ve decided to go big into this mule deer hybrid project I’ve talked about on this forum. I feel I can better fill a market with mule deer looking animals than compete with all the whitetail producers when we have an overstock of whitetail bucks already with the poor market value we have now. I will still raise whitetails but I’m going to try to make a new market for myself. Anyone who would like to join me I will have extra mule deer semen available.
I set up twenty five whitetail does for AI with mule deer semen. All female hybrids born will be used to breed to mule deer semen when they are old enough. At three quarters mule deer these animals should look like mule deer. I know there is a market for mule deer as I’m sold out of pure bred mule deer. It will be a long term project but there are very few who have mule deer for our stocker market for our hunt facilities.
I very much believe the hybrids will be able to be raised much farther back East than pure mule deer. I also believe the health of these hybrid animals will be better than pure mule deer. I see this as a new market for those that take this project on. Anyone interested in this may call me.
