Hello, this is our 3rd year in. we have only done live cover up to this point. what would be your advice , suggestions about preparing to AI our deer next breeding season? semen tanks, semen, procedure, do's and don'ts.....anything, everything.. I would love to hear your thoughts. EDUCATE me ! what questions should I be asking ?

I would say first get lines of deer YOU like and A/I with those taking semen cost into account. I would do ******l A/I and find a GOOD A/I person that you can trust!. ..........Johnny Botts does an AWESOME job if you can get him to come over your way!

In today's market you have to really focus on the Bottom Line more than ever.................Keep your Imput cost as low as possible for your best chance at a profit..............High A/I cost with low results will drain your budget as well as sap your FUN meter for the Deer Business...................Very Quickly!! :(

Best of luck ;)

The very first thing is a plan of the handling of the does. Such as getting  groups together that are used to being together. Running them thru a handling facility with a catch chute, have staging rooms, and a place to actually set up foor the AI tech. Get advice from some techs, They will give you some info on there costs as well.Good luck!    :)     Eldon

A good handling systems is a MUST!!!!!!!   It will be the best investment, for your deer, you can do.   There are a lot of great deer out there.  You don't need to spend huge money for good quality deer, and semen.
