Need Advise On A Yearling Doe sneezing

I got a yearling doe that sounds like she is sneezing now and then for the last 2 days and when she is browsing she kinda sniffs with her nose. Almost like a person with a stuffy nose. I don't know what is causing her to do this, the other doe she is with doesn't have these symptoms. Besides this nothing else seems to be different. She looks ok and eats fine. It has been very dry and warm weather here the last 2 weeks so I wouldn't think it's a respiratory issue but I could be wrong. Could someone give me some advise on what it might be and what I should do for preventive maintenance.

Dave - we seem to always be feeling like we are either parinoid, or we wait too long and loose them. If I hear anything that makes me think a cold, or respiratory, or a hint of anything less than normal, I do something. In your situation, my first thought is to try something mild like a Di-Methox or other soluable water treatment. If no change in a day or two, then start thinking about other antibiotics, like Excenell or Nuflor or Baytril. Just depends on the symptoms being presented. I am not one to "just wait and see" although some get along just fine with that, I am not comfortable rolling those dice. To each his own, good luck and let us know if you have other observations or thoughts about your situation.

Ok Thanks Robbie,

I will try something like the Di Methox and see how that goes. It's probably nothing but at least I'll have a peace of mind knowing I am being proactive.

Thanks Again...Dave

If its not respitory you might think about nasal bots. Ive seen mine sneeze trying to blow them out of her nose. A good worming might be the answer. Rick

OK , I was going to worm them anyways this fall. Do most wormer's get rid of nasal bots?

It not always bots. but rick is on also, good worming help. here in ok i see lot flying bugs in summer they are thick in evening, they are thick even low to ground,i see this almost every summer.they get in nose and causes lot sneezing and nose scratching seems they get them out i saw few i wandered, didnt seem to bad this yr,Dc

That is another possibility David, we are having more insects with this warmer weather here lately. One good thing it will get colder here soon in MN. and all them nasty bugs will be gone until next summer. Do your deer even catch a break from bugs down there in OK. ?

When it freezes. right now it is horsefly, and i guess midge, last couple yrs you could look across the field at sunset see millions of these bugs i was talking bout.i got mild case of ehd or bt, not sure, she slobbered couple days, little better, no worse.Best of luck DC

David, I sure hope you get rid of the BT or EHD, I know that is terrible crap. I bet a hard freeze can't come fast enough for you. Good luck and take care.
