I have an older doe that has a hard swelling at the base of her jaw near where her cheek muscle would be. Could this be lump jaw? How do you treat lump jaw?

I have a fawn with an infected ear from it's ear tag. Which antibiotic will work best? I have Tetradure, Nuflor and Draxxin.

Thank in advance.

It may also be food impaction too. If possible run through a shoot to see by sticking your finger back by the bump. As far as the fawn goes i would not give an injectable Antibiotic, i would put antibiotic cream on it. That has always worked best for me with any cut outside the skin. Good Luck!

Doe

Treat lump jaw with 6cc of Nuflor per 100 lb. of body weight SubQ. 2 cc Banimine IM. 10cc of penicillin SubQ.

Fawn

Remove the tag before treating. Neosporin daily will cure. Hole may grow shut. Then retag when healed. Reuse same tag just different stud. Jeff

We had several fawns with pus around the hole in their ear and applied Tetradure directly on the area that was affected. All were cured with no more than 2 applications a day apart. We used a syringe without a needle and it worked very well. According to our Vet, true lumpy jaw is very rare and it is usually a cut in or outside the mouth that swells up and eventually bursts and heals. We treat with antibiotics and have always had good results.

I have a doe fawn that had a small lump on her jaw. Half the size of one of those little bouncy balls from a gumball machine. We gave her the following mix as listed below.

2cc Nuflor sq

12cc Poly Serium sq

1/2 cc Banamine IM

2cc Fuso/A.Pyo sq

I think this interupted her digestive system but the lump was gone in 3 days.

Thanks,

Jeff Enochs
