My doe had twins two weeks ago today. She has acted fine until now. This morning she was laying down with her tail sticking straight out and I it looked like she was having contractions. I walked over to her and she had passed some type of discharge that had a foul odor. I have searched the forums and from what I can tell I need to give her an antibiotic. But can I do that while she is nursing? Is there anything else that I need to do for her? The fawns are doing good and I don't want to do anything that would hurt them or the doe. Thanks for any help:)

Pookie, antibiotics NOW! I would recommend draxin. And whatever else there is to do maybe someone else can tell you. I had a doe the other day do the same thing and I lost her. Draxin has done more for me than any other antibiotic, hands down. And maybe its Pennicillen you need to use, I don't know. But whatever you decide to use, USE NOW!

Yes it is alright to give the antibiotics if she is nursing. If she is tame enough you may want to infuse her uterus with 20cc of oxytetracycline. She may have had a retained placenta or just a metritis (uterine infection) from fawning. Good luck
