We bought several thousand trees from this company a few years back, and have they grown! (the trees, that is)

I'm going to buy a thousand or more of their Austree Willows. These things have proven to grow as fast as they say...(see link below)

They claim that these trees are good for orchard plantings or nearby other valuable trees because deer prefer to rub on them before cedars and other trees. We've sure seen that at work. Our Burr Oaks and Swamp Oaks have been spared while the Austrees have been hit hard, but keep coming back. Like other willows, their cuttings root fast in buckets of water and can be planted within a few weeks.
I have about 350' of deer pen that borders the county road within 15'. Last year I put up black plastic, which is great for the deer, but comes with a lot of upkeep and I constantly worry about the wind having its way with it. My plan is to put a screen of trees along it, as well as another 600' of fence that borders the neighbor's place where dogs and rubberneckers frequent.
Just thought I'd pass along the info. After talking to some people in town, this is not a well-known tree.
