Hello all, I'm new both to this forum and to deer farming. I'm from Michigan's Upper Peninsula and am planning to raise reindeer. I'm starting completely from scratch, just doing my homework at this point. Would be grateful for any advice, questions, and/or suggestions from you!
There are a few questions I have. How many acres would be ideal for a small start-up farm? I don't intend on ever getting real big, this is more about lifestyle than money for me. Ideally, I'd like to have 5-6 reindeer, and train at least a couple of them to pull sleds. I own an ice cream bike business, and would like to expand to something I could do during the winter (especially here, where winter is half the year!).
