I have the Tail White Ranch located in central Minnesota. I have now been raising deer for 3 years. I have 2 web sites. http://roboweather.info is my weather web site that updates every 5 minutes with data from my personal weather station. I also have a couple web cams on the site that when operating show inside one of the deer kennels. http://tailwhite.typepad.com/blog/ is the second web site and this one is my blog for my ranch. It has a lot of pictures and a full history.
I also have a question, my yearling buck has a fairly standard/typical set of antlers with 10 points. His main beams have grown to within about 1 inch of each other. This does seem a little strange to me, although they do not look unusual. He had a little trouble rubbing the velvet off because the antlers grew to almost a closed loop and he was not able to get around any decent sized trees to run the inside of his antlers. He did use the fence a little but with only limited success. So has anyone seen antler growth like that? is it typical? will the antlers spread out with age?
Okay that was more then a question, Actually I have another question (or a few questions). I am looking to set up my medicine cabinet and I was wondering what you keep on hand and why. Last week I had to have a friend come over and dart one of my Does so we could look at an injury just above her right front hoof. The Blow dart worked real well to bring her down then we used regular syringes to administer a antibiotic. So I am planning on buying a blow dart set, and I will need to have some medicines on hand. The question is what should I have so I am prepared for the unexpected or even the expected like worms and liver flukes. Any advice and comments is greatly appreciated. I admit there is a lot I don't know and I am hoping some of you are willing to share from your experience and save me some of the problems caused by inexperience.
