October AI? I was given two dates for this fall by my technician I have used for several years. The first date was October 25-26 and the second was November 12-13. I usually breed my deer the first week of November however this year maybe different. I was wanting input from those who have bred earlier or later than the normal cycle. If good or bad results were acquired, please explain how so. What variables were in play with your specific situation and give maybe a % of conception rate.

Thanks Jason

We Ai over 350 does every year ( this year closer to 450), in Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Indiana, Misssouri, Pennsylvania and Texas. Our clients have all want to push the AI date up to get earlier fawns. It has been our experience that October AI ing in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas is counterproductive.

I agree with pdaddy, I have AI'd for some of my friend in TX in mid to late November, and in the first week of November. I believe that we had better success in mid to late November with those does as they were more in line with their natural heat cycle. Try to keep your animals as close to the natural breeding cycle as you can in my opinion. Good luck!

Thank you technicians for your input. I have talked with a 30 year veteran deer farmer and was urged much like you have suggested...... Later AI in November
