If you have a non accredited herd how man years do you have to test to become accredited and do you have to test every year? Is it possible to have an accredited herd and a non accredited herd...if so how far apart do the pens need to be?

TB/B you have to be 3 years. Test every 3rd year. CWD is done on inventory yearly with a visual inspection by a vet. I'm not sure how far apart the farms would have to be apart but you can have 2, one accredited and one unaccredited. I'm also assuming whitetail and elk fall under the same rules. 9

30 feet apart is the distance you need for two different herds.

Two TB and Brucellosis tests one year apart will get you accredited. You then must test every 3 years to retain your status. The big hangup is that it does you no good to be TB accredited until you have 5 years of CWD monitoring. We are required to have 5 years CWD monitoring to ship deer out of state.
