I plan to inject xylazine into apple slices to slow down a handful of deer so I can get darts into them to make it a less stressful situation on them, (and me).
My concern is, I have seen several deer with tongues protruding out of the sides of their mouths and have been told it was due to being tranquilized. Will the xylazine, being used orally, cause those tongue problems?
My plan is to start tomorrow morning, so if anyone has any info to pass along the sooner the better. I do not want to do anything that will harm my herd and would like to know ASAP if I need to make alternate plans.
