I don't know about the rest of you guys but I don't have time to email all of the people on NADEFA's board. I'm sure they all read this forum or have friends that do on the board. So here goes and I hope this list will be long and firm enough for the NADEFA board to realize the members don't want these standards as written.. Lets show the board we as members don't want these standards as written.

Gosh guys I just looked at this and there are 105 people that have looked at it and only 5 have signed up against these standard rules to send a message to NADEFA. Does this mean people like me are a minority in being against these new standard rules? I really thought there were more people that were concerned with these standard rules and thought this was an easy way to send Shawn and the board we were not with them on this.

I'm from Montana and a NADEFA member or just in the deer or elk industry and have strong concerns about the standards and feel they have to be written in a more user friendly way for the people that have to live under these rules. I have no interest in accepting them as written and trying to fix them later. Plain and simple I feel they are written to kill this industry.

I don't know Mike.

What testing do other farm animals go through to cross state lines?

Why not treat us like the rest, they are farm animals!

And this is what NADeFA should been fighting for!!!

Livestock is Livestock

Just curious Mike....what are the standards for some one like me selling my beef cow to someone like you in NY? Oh..... of by which it is known that beef cows can carry mad cow which can be passed over to humans......the answer is NONE! Why should we as deer farmers be treated any differently!! It's time to take a stand!

I agree Joe! you pretty much summed it all up. That's exactly what needs to happen.

NADeFA Update - August 22nd, 2013

Your National Association Working For You

The NADeFA Board and I have maintained for the past year that we support moving forward with the working group to address our concerns with the Program Standards and to follow through with the comment period to address any additional concerns that we may identify when the Standards are released for public comment.

NADEFA will notify all members when the standards are published and will provide a link so comments can be made.

NADeFA supports the 90 day comment period.

If after all that process, we do not agree with the final product, we will move forward with options to withdraw the Standards completely.

The Board voted unanimously to contribute $25,000 to the Brakke lawyer fund to help pay for the legal battle in Iowa.

NADeFA is working with state associations in New York, Florida, Missouri and Louisiana to keep borders open.

NADeFA is working on its website or a link that could give weekly updates to its members to keep them better informed of what is going on in the industry and what NADeFA is working on.

NADeFA encourages all members to express their concerns to any of the board members or the executive director so they can be handled promptly. We have always had an open door policy and will continue to do so. Our members are very important to us and so are their concerns.

Oh how much i agree and wish that could be so. In the real world by us raising a wild game animal in every state in the country we will always have testing and rules of some kind. It will be that or someone will pull the plug on the whole industry!

I respectfully disagree. In the real world we are being discriminated against, compared to other livestock. The wild game are the ones carrying and spreading the disease. They do not have to test there animals! Why should we? It may come to a federal lawsuit to get this fixed before this is over. I believe we have been over regulated already before the standards! I was talking to my neighbor yesterday and he is a beef farmer, he just laughed when i told him that i TB & Bruc test all my animals every three years and cwd test all my deceased animals. He doesn't even have to place tags in the ears of his cattle!

Shawn called me and basically said the same as the news release that we all should have got from NADEFA. I know we will all have to have a CWD program in place to stay in business. I was assured by Shawn our concerns would be addressed in the 90 day public process and if some of the more abusive rules were not changed to reflect industry concerns they would then look for other ways to get the rules changed. So there you have it.

A lot of States will be regulated out of business long before these standards ever have a chance to effect us. Really comes down to do you want to die by gun or by knife. Do you want to go first or last, it will happen. Sad.
