Yes, you can put draxxin in a dart.  Another good antibiotic that can be darted, is Zuprevo,

1)   What are your thoughts about vacinating for Pneumonia?

2)    If you did Vacinate for Pneumonia did it work for you?

Cassie. If you are looking for a vaccine Josh Newton @ Red Ridge Whitetails has had a Vaccine developed and Josh could possibly give you folks who have used it and their success ?

Best of Luck

I have had good luck treating pneumonia with Draxxin  I/M and NuFlor Sub Q

Wayne, I am kinda new to the deer farming, I still have a lot to learn but my issue is the deer I lost to Pneumonia. By the time I realize what they had it was to late. Actually I didn't even know what she had until she died and I took her to the vet and we cut her open and she was full of pneumonia. The vet said I could do what ever I wanted to this deer but She didn't think I could have saved her, So I am trying to be proactive, and learn what to look for before it's to late.

But what I do not want to happen is treating deer for something they don't have. So I am trying to find out what to look for to stay ahead of the Pneumonia

Cassie, I understand and have been there done that. Look for rapid breathing, It may only be a slight difference in the rythem of breaths but you will notice it as soon as you see it. Prevention is great put not always do able. Learning your animals takes time and each one is different.

Good Luck and I would still contact Josh on his vaccine it may be the prevention you are looking for?

I like to hit my deer especially my fawns with some extra aureomycin in the their feed 3 to 5 days in a row every month or so through the winter months.  Since I started doing this I have had fewer health issues and death loss.

I have a 6 month old doe fawn , she is losing her fur all on the top her back towards her rump, any idea what that could be? Looks like a dog with maines

Bill I do the same and have had Excellent results and it is a VERY inexpensive prevention!

Ya, I stole this one from the you Wayne.  A couple of years ago I was having health issues mainly with fawns and I called you.  You told me to use the Aureomycin this way and it works for me.

Where are you guys getting the aureomycin and at what rate are you feeding it? Does your local feed mill usually carry this?

Jared, I get mine at our feed store, not mill. Tractor Supply, Rudd's Feed!  A little goes a long way and the # uses are on the bag!

Thanks Wayne... Here is some info on Pneu-Vac...I have been very pleased overall with the results over the past few years17767:pneu-Vac Flyer_1-2013.pdf]
