Post Depth / Post Driving Question

Question...we are considering buying a post driver to high fence our farm. It seems most tractor mounted post drivers accept no more than a 10' length post. If that is the case and we need 8' exposed, that means we only have 2' embedded in the ground. I would assume we would want more embedment. We really don't want to auger or have to use post hole diggers prior to driving (to achieve more depth). What does everyone else do?

Thanks!

I know of a like new King Hitter post driver for sale for 10K that can attach to tractor or skid steer and will drive up to a 14' post 4 feet into the ground. Let me know if you want info on it.

What about where you have to use wood for your end assemblies and pull assemblies?

We do use a few wooden ones but very little, we still pound them in as the metal poles and they are also 12'

You'll need a bigger one for a skid loader or front end of a tractor. With your sandy ground, you'll want the posts in more than 2 feet; 3 feet should be a minimum. IMO
