Is anybody else out there getting tired of fishing fawns out of the mud? Mud and water from the terrible rains we have had-fawns are all doing really well--BUT-bottle feeding a couple of buck fawns too!!!--
I know what you mean, fortunately most of my fawns were born with gills and are learning to swim quite well, lol.
We have been rinsing them of with garden hoses and drying them off. Fighting ecoli constantly. I'm counting my blessings that I've only lost one so far.
Well here we go again-lots of rain today-cold!!!!!-ive got 3 on heating pads-all dried-off and comfy--had 2-sets of twins/1 single in the storm-all ok--yup-e-coli is everywhere--ive got mud/water where there never was before..-i also lost 1-but considering everything -not bad--have 19 doing ok..
I am with you, had triplets yesterday after the downpour. Do not like seeing fawns with mud on them. Had to bring one in (real small) other two are doing fine.
Looks like Thursday and Friday will be nice and then rain again over the weekend....I am pretty lucky that all my pens are on hillsides and the water runs of pretty well...My problem is the huge gully's that wash out under my fence from all the rushing water.
