Red cap providers?

Personally... I would not feed unpasteurized milk because of Salmonella, E. coli, Johne's disease, and Listeria.

Sugarmountain I live in Ohio but am originally from the White Haven area. We buy most of our whole milk at Aldi's here in ohio for about $2.00 a gallon. I know there is Aldi's in the area.

I get mine straight from a dairy.

I can buy straight from them cheaper then stores or get stuff they brought back from stores... It is nearing expiration, But I get that free.I have to check it... but I use so many gallons a day That I never have to worry about it reaching the expiration day!!!

Dairy farms have to pay to get rid of that.They are not allowed to dump it.Ours was happy we could use it. As for taking nutrients out The USDA says no....But as for the good bacteria... I feel there are safer ways to get it??? BUT WHO KNOWS???

Mine do fine on it... And I feel.... It's Much better than taking a chance killing them with a disease.

I know in Illinois you can loose your certification if you feed unpasturized milk as you could bring in a disease like TB. We wanted to use unpasterized goats milk but this is what the state vet told us. Rick

Buckskin, for only sixty dollars, you can buy a small pasturizer and do it yourself.

I actually was planning on doing that but I was told that the milk would have to be inspected and my facility where I pasturized it(my kitchen I guess) would also have to be checked out by the health department. They were really giving me a hard time about it so I decided to give in and feed zoologic that first year. Since then I have switched to red cap and I add a cup per gallon of superior doe milk replacer. I must admit that I tried just red cap,just superior,and the combo mentioned before with the red cap superior combo and my biggest healthy fawns have come from the combo with straight red cap very close. The red cap only started peeing and pooping pellets on their own faster with no loose stools. The combo was just about as fast with no scours problem either, however I noticed that when the replacer red cap fawns put their first racks on they had a bit more mass to them. It was not a scientific study or anything but since they did just as well on the combo I decide to try that exclusively this year and so far so good. Rick
