hello has anyone here ever heard of rotovirus in deer had some of my fawns die from it according to a pathologist thanks for your replies

Rotovirus is a virus of family Reoviridae. This virus is responsible for causing severe diarrhoea in children usually. It must have affected your Fawns and that is why they must have fallen ill.

Don't know much about the Rotovirus but I will pass along info. on what happened to a local deer farm. They brought in a couple of deer from another state that carried the Rotovirus. If the mother nursed the fawns then the fawns had what they needed to fight off the virus. On the bottled feed fawns they had severe scours and died. They were finally able to identify the Rotovirus and gave shots to the remaining faws. Unsure of the meds. but could find out. I believe they said the entire herd would have it now. Don't know. Just passing along what I was told.
