We sent in 4M Moab and 4M Gladiators Hammer to be sexed. Gourley collected it and sent it in. They said it was not good enough to split so they tossed it out! This has happened to several other breeders.

It would be interesting to find out how many other bucks this happened to.

The lab. We collected over 15 bucks over several years and only a handful were "good enough" to sort. The positive thing is you don't have to pay for a sort if they determine it is not good enough. Negative is that you put your buck through the stress of collecting to not get anything out of it. We used at least 4 different people to collect semen and the same results. The semen was good enough at collection to freeze conventionally but by the time it got to the lab (5 minutes) it was determined no good. We have Ai'd with sexed semen with good results but in my opinion needs some more work especially with the extender.

Our buck Nemo produced 12 buck fawns and only 3 doe fawns this year from natural breedings, we will have a talk with him again before breeding season this fall. Not 100% but pretty good in our book. :D:D

I assume that with the natural breedings your odds would be 50/50, so what is the projected percent success rate with the sexed semen? and what kind of guarantee is involved with the company that sexed it?

Used sexed semen on two does. One didn't take and the other had a doe. Shold have been a buck or twin bucks.
