Shade Cloth Problems

Looking for help dealing with shade cloth in very windy conditions. When I get the shade secured good to the wire I get wire ripped off the post. When I get the wire reinforced to the post I get post ripped out of the ground or snapped off. Using the 8 ft. shade cloth.

I have the urge to make a cut between the post to let some of the wind through but not sure if the cloth will hold up after that.

I am going to try 6X6's in concrete next unless someone has a better idea.

Any suggestions appreciated.

You need to cut some flaps every couple feet to let the wind through. I just put up some shade cloth yesterday and cut flaps along the center going horizontally. It is really windy today and the shade cloth is holding up just fine.
 
I have a couple friends down south who constantly have issues with shade cloth. I have suggested to them several times to plant bamboo along there fence rows. There is tons of it growing down south where you should be able to dig it up. My friend from NE Alabama is going to be planting some this winter/spring in order to have shade and hopefully replace his need for shade cloth. Its just a thought, I will take some pictures once he gets it done.

Thanks Wayne. After the wind we had today I get to start over again from scratch!
 
are you using nitted or woven cloth? you cannot cut slits in the woven....
 
Bill, if you got your cloth from me you can cut wind flaps in it but I cannot speak for others that are sold. Johnny, I would like to discuss the issues you have had with shade cloth, please call me at the number below.
 
This is the best I have seen to take precautions for the wind issue. This is Ricks place and like I said, he did an awesome job with it many years ago and he did it right when he installed it.

I just put some up last weekend and we are gettin pounded with 50mph plus wind right now. We will see how it held up in the morning. I never cut flaps in mine but i also never use the tallest cloth!!!
 
I have seen where some farmers split the shade cloth 4 ft top then 4ft bottom not fastening the bottom of either so the winds blows the tarps drift up with no resistant only promblem is my fences run east and west putting the fence with north and south winds pushing against the fence not sure which side to put the tarps inside fence or out side. So we're thinking about putting top 4ft tarp outside and bottom 4ft tarp inside. Has anyone tried this before.
 
Bill, Don't put your post in cement. Treated post will rot in the cement. I have all my pens with shade cloth my post are 10 years old & the only ones that have ever given me problems are the few that we're put in cement. All the tamped post are still in great shape. I can assure you THEY WILL rot in the cement in the ground.

As mentioned in the previous post, I have not ever seen this and not sure there would be any benifit to doing this. Please call me to discuss, thanks
 
What is the purpose for shade cloth. I have two pens with now cloth and haven't had a problem. My pens are in a remote area so no one can see the deer. I started to put some up on the down wind side of the fence and realized that the wind blows both way's at my house. LOL. Just wondering if there is any real benefit to the aimal. I have seen holes in some cloth where deer could get hung in it.
 
Shade Cloth has many uses and one being it keeps folks from gathering or looking into your enclosure, it also helps along the same line as that when pochers are out to shoot one. On another note when you move deer in an alleyway, it helps maintain their somewhat calmnees even though they are being pushed. The cloth also provides shade when none is present and can keep deer from seeing into neighboring enclosures, helps with preditors as well seeing. These are just a few
