both fawns started shaking their heads like they may have mites in their ears.

Is this something normal? If mites - any suggestions?

Both are fine otherwise - eating good bottle & pellets & browse. Coats look fine. Can't see anything in their ears, but then my eyesite ain't what it used to be......

I had the same problem last year, used ear mite control that I found at petsmart for dogs and cats for 2 days, cleared right up.

If it is ear mites then Ivermectin injectable (clear) works too. Just squirt about 1cc in each ear.

put ear mite control solution into their ears yesterday and again this morning. Will let you know how they do.

they are eating fine - although one is more into browse/fruit/pellets than the other.

I would lean towards a pour on wormer like Cydectin before using an injectable as a topical. They are formulated for absorbtion a specific way, and you should see better results from one intended to be absorbed through the skin. I know that Cydectin will help with external parasites like ticks, so it should be effective against mites as well. However, John, you have probably made the best choice by going with a product that specifically addresses mites.

the problem with them shaking their head/ears seems to have stopped after two days of treatment using the ear mite solution (got it from the vet -by the way --- expensive!)

They seem to be doing fine now.

Really appreciate all the help from all of you!

For ear infections I use in each ear:

1.5cc Ivermecton injectable

1/2 tube Dry Cow ointment

You can get the ointment at the feed store. Relatively inexpensive. This works great for me.
