I have a doe fawn that eats about 24 oz in a feeding (red cap) but the other morning she only ate about half of that. That night she ate all of her bottle. This morning she only ate 10 ozs. The only thing i can tell that is different about her is she blows out her nose as if something is annoying her. and i seen this morning she ates like she is chewing on something from time to time. They were put up last night in stalls so she hasn't been eating on feed. (there is mulch in the stalls) Thanks for any input!

How old is this fawn? If she is anywhere in the 6 to 8 week range, her ruminant is probably in or trying to develope. She is just growing up and eating more grain, grass roughage and less bottle.

If she is chewing she has eaten something solid. She could be eating mulch or she could be filling up prior to going in. If she is grinding her teeth she is in pain. Give us more info. How old is she? How often and how much are you feeding her? 24 oz sounds like alot so she could just be full and slightly bloated for her next feeding and that is why she is only takeing 10. If that is the case be carefull you CAN over feed them milk.

sorry I got side tracked during my reply and you were already asked and answerd the age question. At that age she is deffantly eating roughage and working a cud.

She's not griding that i seen. She is eating 24 ozs, twice a day. She still looks skinny on the sides though this morning.

sounds like she may just be starting to wean herself off the bottle early. I've seen it in goats many times and heard about it with deer.

I just went out and tried to offer her a bottle again but she refused it but went to the water bucket and was drinking from it.... then she looked as if she was chewing again for a few seconds.

sounds like self weaning to me. Continue to offer it to her at least once a day and Watch her to see if there are any onther indicators of health issues. If that is the ONLY sypmtom you have, then rest easy momma your lil baby just graduated ;) LOL
