What are some of the signs you all look for when you check your does each day? What are the little things that you see in the pens that tells you your doe is about to have her fawn or fawns? I have one doe that was live covered and she looks to me like she could have a fawn just any time. I keep checking her each day a couple of times but nothing yet.

Had one that fawned last night, and yesterday she was very agitated keeping all other does away from her. would lay away from the rest. And her bag was huge.

Good luck with yours.

Here in Oklahoma they love to be born when its hailing golfball size hail or a tornado is headed right at us. check the weather channel for the next storm LOL

This is my first year to have fawns and had been wondering the same thing then we had fawns yesterday with no signs from the doe at all. The only thing i can tell you is when they bag up get ready they are close. Good luck

Good signs are:

The doe will literally slap the others silly!! And will go out of her way to do it. Crabby, crabby, crabby.

Walking the fence (pacing).

Bag is filled although we do have one doe that does not get ANY bag until the day she fawns.

Separating from the herd.

One of my doe must be about ready then after hearing what yall are saying! The one i have been watching when she is walking away from me i can see her bag has filled somewhat. Her nipples look to be inlarged as well. I will keep checking for signs each day! This will be my first time to have fawns born on the ranch. THIS SURE IS GREAT!! From the sounds of things once one of the doe has fawns get ready the rest will be coming soon.

JBC Whitetails i now what you mean wit the storms. My ranch is in Alma Texas 5 minutes from Ennis and 15 minutes from Waxahachie Texas. Last week we had some severe storms and tornados and it scared me and the deer. I had to cut several big trees out of my fencing and restretch a few fences. Just glade none of the deer got hurt and all is cleaned up now.

My tame girls get really needy, try to crawl in your pocket and follow you all around the pen. I can also notice a change in how they carry the fawns, they will drop lower in the belly, towards the ground, making them look thin in the flank area. They will start stretching a lot, and holding their tail more out than down.

Some of my old does will not let you know at all, some pace ALOT, some lift their tail alot before fawning and pin their ears back against their neck as a sign of distress, some will lay down with their head in the grass, that is when they are really close, the belly drop is what i go by, when those fawns drop it wont be very many days, so watch closely.
