Wayne is right about the feed.

If things don't seem to be going right don't force it. That leads to more issues and regret. When it isn't going well just stop everything and walk away.

Do not sedate either of your bucks if they get worked up before hand. Keep their heads higher than their chest and their necks straight. Give them each a full bag of ringers before they are reversed. Keep them far away from the doe pens for the next 24hrs. Don't let a crook collect your bucks. We soak a rag in doe estrous and hold it by their nose. I don't know if it makes any difference. Wayne and Roger's advice is spot on. Give them a little antibiotic just in case something was aspirated,a little b-12, and a 2cc of banimine.

Lots of good advice. Bell is correct with getting them worked up. If my buck runs the pen two or more times he does not get darted. I have done a bunch of collections and with those type of animals you either get nothing or end up darting reversal. Make sure your tech gets the penis unsheathed. Adds a bunch of junk to the collection otherwise. As always monitor temp, breathing rate, tongue placement. Bell also brought up fluids, we give 1000cc every collection. Do not give until after collection! I always give b-complex, prevail, and ADE. If you have given nuflor recently do not bother collecting, because that stuff kills sperm! Good luck!

Personally when I collect on the bucks here at ACW I'm mixing at a 4:1, giving a 3cc dart in the neck. Rump shots just don't put down the big fatty boys here. If that's what Dr. Rachel is recommending go for it! She has lots of experience.
