Spraying pens for flies?

I have a 18 gallon four-wheeler mounted electric sprayer. Is there a product out there for flies and insects that can be sprayed by one of these sprayers? I know Pyrethrum comes in a lot of forms. I would like to have some concentrate that could be mixed with water and sprayed periodically. Has anyone ever heard of such?

i use to spray my pens a lot, but i have found that instead of having to do that every week i now use a product called fly predator. i like it better than spraying and i think it works better. and you only have to do it once

I use malathion. I get it from the local farm supply. Its awesome on mosquito larvae and fly or gnats around wet n muddy areas! It kills them dead and fast

I've never had any issues with it concerning my deer!

Thanks Guys for the replies! I knew there was something out there that you guys use.

pondflatwhitetails, I just ordered my first batch of fly predators. They are small non-stinging wasps that lay their larve in fly larve. It cost $18.00 bucks per batch. Five to six batches a year. I am gonna try it and will get back with yaw on the results.

Malathion I had a friend of mine that managed a farm coop he said anything that ends with ion is pretty nasty stuff. it might even need a class taken to use it. your deer are eating the sprayed grass. 2 cents

i am curious on the fly predators because it sounds like something i want to try...

how do you measure how many larvae that you need...by number of deer, number of flies, pen sizes, ???

and what website did you purchase them from?

thanks

Wens55,

They are called Spalding Laboratories. The number is 888-562-5696. They have 30 years of weather history for every zip code in the country. They search your zip code and ask questions about what kind of animals and how many. The wasps are indigenous everywhere. They give you three different species of these little wasps and you basically bombard the flies with superior numbers. You introduce a new batch of predators every four to six weeks to stay ahead of the fly population. Also put fly traps on your borders to control incoming flies.

We use fly predators and they work great. Only problem with them in Texas is the fire ants love them too. A friend designed a release container out of a 5 gallon bucket with several holes in the side for them to escape out, a lid to prevent wasp from entering & it can be hung up of the ground to keep ants from attacking.
