It’s that time of year when we seem to have a lot of fund raisers to raise money in our states to support our very important state associations that battle and battle to keep our industry moving. As you all know, we have quite a battle going in Missouri and we all appreciate the help we get in a very big way.  THANK YOU!

With that in mind I enjoy making donations to the state associations that have always helped us out. There are many more besides the 3 I’m going to list here. If you need a donation for your state fundraiser, just ask me. Its that simple!. Do it on this thread if you like! We have to help each other out! We have to have each others back. And of course we need to be able to move animals.

There are 3 state associations that have asked me for a donation. I wish I could attend them all. Here they are and the dates. Feel free to add your state to this thread.

Iowa                February 19<supth</sup

Michigan         March 4-5

Wisconsin        April 2

So here is my donation to each state:

I will donate 5 straws of semen, one from each of my best 5 bucks. The bucks are:

Payday (527 at 5, 32 inside, 45 drop to drop, 275 6x6 frame, 17 inch tines)

Whoop-D-Do (531 at 4, 36 inside)

Timberrock (441 at 2)

Roaming 727 (265 at 2, 31.5 inside)

Big Bonus (221 at 1, 6x6)

Each straw is put into an unmarked envelope. There are 5 envelopes total with no one knowing which straw is in which envelope. Envelopes are auctioned off one at a time. If the auctioneer feels like the first one brings good money, then they can offer the rest at the same price. Or if they like they can auction off each individually. Everyone Wins!

Which state can raise the most money with the donation? Thanks for reading and good luck. There is a lot of information on these bucks on other threads but I will be posting more here. (I will also be asking Troy to put this on Our Missouri Whitetails on facebook.)

You never fail when it comes to helping out Sam  Your bucks always bring good donation money and thats not easy to do anymore with all the $100 straws out there. States need donations of items that will bring bids. That said we will be having a fundraiser here in the next year or so and will be asking for help.  We are first going to revamp the whole board of directors up here and try to get people on board that want to help and will fight to keep Ny on the map. After our borders were shut our association was shut. Do you have dates for the Missouri fundraiser?

Missouri is in August. This donation did well last August . We are planning a really great conference in Branson this coming year. I'll keep you all informed. Let me know what you need in New York.

Sam you do a great job of supporting the industry. Thank you for the straws last year for the W.O.W. (Whitetails Of Wisconsin) org.

I used PayDay,  Whoop D Do and TimberRock in my does last fall because of your generous donations.

Thanks Sam for your donation to our Iowa banquet, I will be bidding them up!!

Also I would like to say-  besides the bucks being great, the quality of the semen is also great

Having used PayDay on 3 does, I got 6 fawns, 4 bucks- 2 does. Sad to say, I lost a buck fawn this weekend

Hope to see you there Sam

P.S. what is Big Bonus pedigree

Big Bonus is Whoop-D-Do over White 33. White 33 is Roaming Eagle over Sundance. Remember Whoop-D-Do is Maxbo Impact over Y57. Y57 is the wombmate to Rolexby10 (540) and Rolex over R11. R11 is the best doe we ever had (raised by Dan Kuhns) and is Highway 10's wombmate. She is Highroller on top and a grandaughter of Timberjacks mother. R11 is also the mother to the Chosen One. I will make up a pedigree soon. We are pretty excited about this yearling. He has a real nice 6X6 frame and is showing the stickers and drops that I love. He was a little late for a yearling as far as body growth but he still scored 221. We just drew him for the first time in January which is my favorite month for drawing yearlings. The semen is excellent. I also had him in with some very good doe fawns from Awesome Antlers. Hope he bred a couple...lol

Everything we do is geared toward the big typical frame with the extras that add character, look, and score. I also like mass and deer that get big at 2 years old. We have also been trying to breed for balance. We take our 2 year old pens and pick out any breeders and any bucks we feel like are behind because they were late born, injured, or sick. Then we turn out the rest. We usually harvest a good percentage of those. They were about 180 up to 450 this year. BIG at age 2. That's the first requirement I have in a breeder. I am always amazed at how many late maturing bucks are still popular. Sorry, got off topic...lol

Here is Big Bonus this year at 1:

This is what i strive for in bucks. If anyone could complain on this buck would be a little short in the brow tins department. Besides that its perfect. Uptines,Balance, frame and plenty of tine length to grow the score.  Perfect!

Thanks Mike! Of course my favorite buck of all time is Payday. Here he is at age 2. What could a hunting preserve owner do with a pen full of these deer and deer like Roaming 727? That's Dreamland! and what we are working for!

Payday at age 2.

More on PayDay!!!

If you have never watch this video, please watch it. This is right at the end of his growing in 2015. He handles his antlers very well but you can tell they are huge!

I will give a few measurements and comments from this year...age 5

Gross score was 527 2/8. He was 32 even inside. He was 45 inches from drop tip to drop tip. Both main beams were over 30 inches, one was over 31.

He had almost 70 inches of mass. Most of it was round except last measurements on each side.

His brows were a little shorter than age 4 but he grew more of them. They were still both over 10 inches.

His g2s were both over 16 but not quite as long as the 17-7 inch g2 from last year. Both G3s were over 14.

His total gross typical score as a 6x6 was a little over 275. Last year we had him as 6x6 at  274+. He had longer tines but less width and mass. When we put him in the nadefa competition last year he came in 2nd place in 3 categories to 3 different bucks, gross score , main frame score (they scored him as a 5x6 at 262, 263 won), and tine length.

He was 350+ gross at age 2 with a 240+ main frame.

Mike,

We put a straw in the tank for this very reason I love that roaming 727 Buck! One day we'll have our supermaxx facility done and get to really test his production!

Hey Sam. As a donor you were eligible for a contest associated with the WOW org for biggest yearling. However they chose to go with a rather unreasonable requirement that the doe/does entered had to be DNAed and their DNAS numbers submitted by March of this year. Sorry to say the straws you donated will not be included in the contest as a result of this rule. Neither will the straws I bought from several other donors. It is unfortunate they chose to take that route and exclude the majority of the buyers, winners and donators.

I have no idea what you are talking about Roger. But I'm fairly used to being left out...LOL
