I know someone that had a wild buck jump over an 8 ft fence into his pen. He always counted his deer every day and had an extra that day.

I purchased to my knowledge an un-bred doe early last fall. This spring I found a fawn in the pen. Did a buck jump my 8 ft fence? On did a wild fawn some how find it's way in in search of it's mother? Either way I am raising an unexpected fawn this summer.

Wild deer can certainly jump an 8 foot fence. I once had one of my does jump my 8 foot fence to get out. Wild deer have an easier time of it because of their superior muscle tone and strength. Uncle Harley - You probably didn't think or bother to check, but if your ''unbred doe'' had that fawn, she of course would have had milk.

Well she acted weird for a few weeks and wouldnt let me get real close. I never saw a visible bag from 50 ft away but then again they dont bag up as big as goats so any bag wouldn't be very visiable. Now that I've returned the fawn back to the big pen my does has pretty much adopted it. She protects it when something outide the fence startles them. And she will also chase off any goat that gets near the fawn. She does everything a mother would except feed it. So I really dont know.

Uncle Harley - Yeah your right, they are not very visable sometimes, especially on younger mothers, yet a milk bag should have been visable from 50 feet, but unless you looked from directly behind her to see it, it could have been missed. Since my eyes don't work quite like they used to, I've grown accustom to packing binoculars in the pen with me...it helps me alot...heck to get old!

who knows? either way I don't really care, I only have the class A permit which only allows the keeping and breeding of wild game for personal use. I am not in the cwd or tb program and my deer cannot leave my farm. So it's not like I'm selling high dollar deer and having to prove genetics.
