We have a two year old buck that has swollen jaw under the eye. sorry I don't have a picture of it. It has been swollen for two or three days now.

Can you dart with 2cc Draxin, or 5-6cc nuflor? I would as a precaution. You may need to put him out, lance, and drain. But first I would dart with antibiotic, and see if it goes down. Good luck.

I would lance it and medicate. Better safe than sorry don't want that to spread to an antler or into facial bones.

Sorry guys I'm vary green I'm sorry but how do you lance and what would I need to preform this task. I have no problem putting the deer down to do this. I can only get la 200 off my vet as well. We are north of the border and it seems a little harder to get meds.

use an 16 or 18 ga needle/syringe to see if you can pull stuff out of it. You can make a small cut with a scalpel or sharp blade at the bottom(low end) of the swelling to allow it to squeeze out, leave it to allow drainage.

I have no experience with La200, Nuflor or Draxxin would be my choice.

Ya'll do seem to have a harder time finding meds up there, makes it hard to treat correctly sometimes I'm sure.
