I am thinking of switching my feed to textured....I just don't think my deer like the pellets as much as they would the textured.....actually I'm thinking of doing a textured pellet mix.......i hear with the textured feed a lot of deer will pick around the vitamins and minerals...is this true? If so, I was hoping by maybe doing a mix of both it might solve the problem....of course they could always pick around the pellets too........what are some of your thoughts on this?!

Hey dennis I feed a pellet textured mix and they pick around a little but with the gravity flow feeder i built they have to eat everything bf they can get anything more. So there is no real picking and choosing.

Dennis I have been through this for years...

Some people say women are never happy, so I figured thats why I couldn't make up my mind.

I FOUND A FOOD I AM HAPPY WITH,AND THE DEER LOVE IT.

I changed feed mills 5 times,I went through Purina and ADM.

I just quit feeding a sweet feed because I could watch them pick and choose, one doe would eat all corn and nothing else...Then the fines would be left, so we played the add more mollassses game...The food would stick in the auto feeders.

We just went to the same formula made into a pellet and they love them. When I mixed them with the left over sweet feed they ate more of the pellets ...Go figure

Call if you want to talk about it.

I have used two diferent text/pel mix and have had small problem with picking through feed. seemed to be worse during winter. I recently switched to an all pellet feed (ADM) and so far I am likeing the results. It took the deer a little while to start eating good. It has a flavor additive so its more appealing.

I changed from Text. to pellets back in Nov. and the deer seem to eat the pellet just fine. I think there is a lot less waist as well.

I have been feeding a textured/pellet mix for a while now. I like doing this because its easy to change the ration depending on the time of the year, buck or doe, protien or fat etc.I feed in 275 lb. capacity home made gravity style feeders.I just make sure they clean it up before I refill the hopper. This has worked well for me. Good Luck, Allen

He Dennis

I use buck bites , Its a pellet texture mix, Deer like it, Sold right here in Pa, I just got some 2 days ago, $11.25 a bag, Neeby

I just switched from a textured feed that was made at our local mill to an all pellet made by Maxrax. My deer are eating it just fine and I don`t have as much of a problem with birds in my feeders. I think the Maxrax is a quality feed. The textured feed has an eye appeal to us humans, as long as the formulation is good I think all pelleted feed is fine.

We feed antler max pellet and mix in some corn. We vary the amount of corn by the time of the year. A textured feed we feel would have too much waste since we don't like it when the pellet has any amount of fines to it. I believe the cost would be prohibitive as well. Antler max is expensive, but our deer have done well on it.
