To whom it may concern,
After much prayer and careful consideration, it is with great sadness that I hereby resign as a Board Member of the North American Elk Breeders Association (NAEBA).
Over the past year, it has become increasingly more difficult, and even impossible in some cases, to attend the Board Meetings partly due to the Executive Committee's inability to set a date for a meeting and stick to that date. Many times when the Board Meeting gets rescheduled to a different date, I simply cannot reschedule my other meetings that conflict with NAEBA's new date.
Having served the last five consecutive years on the board representing the Southern Region, I have seen the NAEBA Board deal with some very difficult & sensitive issues and survive even when the odds where against us. I have been raising elk since 1980 and have supported this association since it began in 1990. As a lifetime member of NAEBA, I will continue to support this industry but due to the direction taken by some of the Board Members over the past few months, I feel that I can't support some of the decisions being made.
It has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve the General Membership of this association. The decisions I have made, over the past five years, have been what I believe to be in the best interest of the General Membership and this industry as a whole.
I feel that Board Members should put what's best for the General Membership before what best for the board or their personal friends especially where state and federal laws have knowingly been ignored and broken.
I also feel that Board Members should be nominated by the General Membership and not by a Nominating Committee appointed by the President.
I wish the best for the Association, the General Membership and the current Board Members. May God bless each of you.
Respectfully,
David L. Autry
